How many times has someone told you that in order to be successful you had to be disciplined? That you need to be the most disciplined person to achieve any kind of success.  Scratch that out. One can be successful without having much discipline. As weird as that sounds, It’s true!

What is Discipline?

Discipline is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience. Discipline requires us to do things that we have to do.

All of us don’t want to do anything we don’t have to do. In most business it’s only about 3-5% of the actions that make you all the money. Everything else is busy work, delegation, repeat work, but it’s the 3-5 that people don’t want to do that makes the company money.

When we tell ourselves we have to do something, we rebel. We tend to have to have these self destructive behaviors because in reality no one wants to be disciplined. How do you get passed the discipline? It will seem super simple , but very powerful

Here is the interesting thing. We want to do the things that we enjoy. We tend to do and be better at the things we want to do and enjoy, rarely, are we good at anything that we hate. It’s an internal struggle. Everyone around you will tell you you have to be disciplined to be successful. The reality is we still have to do those things we don’t want to do, get up and get out of bed, get up and handle those task, those actions that will bring you money.

The Science

How are you going to make yourself motivated to do any of these things?

Trick yourself. Process the right future thinking.

There is a neuron process for our brain called future thinking. What that means is that we tend to focus on the outcome. The outcome of the things we don’t like to do. Like getting out of bed, or going to work, or anything in general that you don’t like to do. We are all guilty on future thinking because we tend to have the forward focus on the wrong thing, when you wake up in the morning and you have to wake up for that business thing, and even if it’s something you don’t want to handle, start thinking about the things that money, freedom, and luxury will bring by taking that necessary task you dread every morning .

***Create a time for focus everyday and implement the good future thinking. Waking up in the morning and focus on starting the day early on the right foot, instead of waking up and thinking the day is going to suck.

Create and eliminate Habits.

Future thinking is where it starts.

Knowing and understanding your habits, which can stay and which can go. Again, we hate to do the things we don’t like to do, waking up early, exercising. Etc.Let me tell you this, the average person breaks a habit in 60 days. Work on those habits today. Don’t expect to automatically start going to sleep by 9pm and waking up early at 5am everyday. Work towards it and make it a habit. First week sleep at 11pm, second week at 10PM, third week at 9PM. At the third week in a concise matter, it becomes easier and a habit.

Habits come from things we enjoy doing, but the reality is that things we don’t like to do tend to bring us the most money.

This belief that discipline will make you a million bucks, or that discipline alone is going to do it, I highly disagree with that.

Your habits and forward thinking, is what’s going to make you the money. Habits are hard as hell to build, when you don’t have the proper expectations and the wrong forward thinking.  Take care of the income producing task first, and then the unpleasant task, second. You do these things and money will flow quicker to you.
