When you’re showing your house, it’s important to keep it clean. A clean house definitely attracts more buyers than a dirty one, but it isn’t always easy to keep it clean — especially with pets. Having a dog or cat is a great addition to any home, but let’s be honest, they can be it even more difficult to keep a house spic and span.

So what are some ways that you can keep your house clean so that it doesn’t look like it’s been taken over by your furry friends? Here are five ideas how to do just that!

1. Pet-Friendly Flooring

• Hardwood
  Not only is this a clean, classic look but it can make great flooring for pets. Hardwood is not only beautiful, but it’s also easy to clean and there are many different styles and colors to choose from. Softwoods are more prone to dents and scratches.
• Stone Tile
  Stone tile is extremely durable and scratch-resistant! Not only is it easy to clean, but there are also numerous colors and materials to choose from. The only downside that is that your pup may not like the cold, hard, and slippery surface.
• Vinyl
  This is probably the most favored option for pet owners. This affordable, easy-to-clean, scratch and stain resistant flooring is available in a variety of designs. Just don’t get it wet! This can cause mildew and/or lifting.

2. Separate eating area

Having a specified dining area for you pet is great. When pets (especially big dogs) get excited about feeding time, they won’t be scratching up your cabinets or ruining your floors while they’re eagerly waiting for their food. Separate eating areas also keeps the smell away from our foods.

3. Set up barriers

There are just some rooms and stuff that you want to keep away from your dog. Protect your nice rug, expensive vase, or brand new leather couch by putting up baby gates to keep your flurry companion out.

4. Be conscious of your decorating

Curtains, glass vases on high shelves, expensive rugs, and so on may be just decorations to you, but to a curious kitten it’s the perfect playground. When you’re decorating your home, keep in mind things you bought for decor, may most likely end up as their next toy.

5. Keep pet accessories out of sight

No matter how nice your home may be, nothing kills the vibe like toys all over the room, raw hides in one corner, and a litter box in the other. Try having a specific box just for pet toys or hiding the litter box in an enclosure that doubles as a piece of furniture.
